This toothbrush seems comparable to other Sonicare units I've owned. It claims to have a whitening technology by using a special brush vibration at the end of the normal teeth cleaning cycle but I don't believe it make any difference at all. If I had to do it again I'd probably choose a more economical model. Otherwise, it works just well as other Sonicare brushes I've owned. I'll continue buying these Sonicare brushes in the future.

After a dental visit- I was told to get a Sonicare to help prevent further gum erosion from my brushing "style". Researched all & settled on this one based on the reviews. Could not be happier unless I had bought the one with 2. Charge lasts about 2 weeks. Travel case fits the product & 2 brushes & 1 little tube of paste. Would buy again if anything happened to this one. Gum erosion has been arrested according to recent checkup.

Have used Sonicare for a few years. Terrific product. The brush head design on this one is a great improvement! Much easier to clean because there's no buildup like in the older designs. I was a little skeptical of the "whitening" mode, but I honestly think it works. Maybe because it's at a higher intensity. (The "sensitive" mode seems a bit useless though.) As I thought I would be, I'm very pleased.

Oral B vs. Sonicare

A few years ago - in my quest to find an electric toothbrush per my dentist's instructions led me to stand in front of the products meticulously comparing one vs. another, did it do this that and the other, price point, etc. Oral B won for 1 reason, price and I had a coupon at Costco and their replacement heads were cheaper. That was a few years ago. I was under the impression that all electric toothbrushes were created equally. Although my teeth's health improved, there are still issues. My last cleaning was very intense at the dentist.

My Oral B is almost dead - it's been 2 years, the battery will hold for a couple of days, but not over a week like it used to. The search for the next toothbrush started.

Surprisingly, I didn't have a hard choice with picking Sonicare. I see the demo/advertising whatever at my dentist. I also knew I wasn't happy with OralB - because my teeth didn't feel clean, and I knew that it was definitely not getting into all the contours of my mouth.

My first use with my Sonicare
I felt like a light bulb exploded in my head. It was ridiculous how clean my teeth felt, as if I just had them cleaned and polished at my dentist. How is that possible with only 1 session? Was my Oral B that bad? Maybe this was a fluke. A few more days went by, my teeth stayed with that smooth clean feeling. It's been a few weeks and I'm hooked.

What's so different about it - the brush head for one. Oral B has a circular head, it spins with use. With the Sonicare, it oscillates back and forth, mimicking real tooth brushing motion. There are contours of the brush so it gets between the teeth. The bristles are stiff to clean my teeth but gentle enough to get into the gums w/o causing bleeding. Oral B brush heads were rough and painful.

This product is great for small mouths, hard to reach areas/crevices and for sensitive teeth.

I like that it has options for sensitive and regular or whitening. I like that it's timed so I know I'm doing the right amount. The toothbrush will shut itself off after 2 minutes. It'll be good for kids too, so they're not doing a swipe and say they're done.

I'm very impressed with this product, very glad I got it and can't wait until my next dentist appointment. I've had it for a few weeks and notice not only are my teeth cleaner, but they are truly whiter.

Its the Flexcare only without the UV sanitizer

Back in Sept 2007 I got my hands on the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Rechargeable Sonic Toothbrush with Sanitizer. I loved it!

- two different size brushes depending on your mouth size
- Timer to ensure you hit all 4 quadrants of your mouth in a 2 minute timeframe
- additional travel charger
- UV sanitizer to kill bacteria on the brush heads and it has a charger built into the stand
- 3 Modes: Clean, Sensitive Teeth and Massage
- 2 year warranty

It's a great product for under $150 now on Amazon. Considering you could spend (with insurance ) $100 for a simple filling, this is a worthy investment.

Now 10 months later arrives the Philips Sonicare R732 HealthyWhite Power Toothbrush.

Everything is basically the same (2 brush heads, travel charger, etc.) . . .except . . . no UV Cleaner/charger and no Massage mode. Instead of Massage mode you get a "whitening mode.

NOWHERE in the product description or the documentation can I find what the extra "whitening" feature is or does. From what I can tell, whitening mode an additional 30 seconds of cleaning of the front visible teeth after you've done the initial 2 minute Clean mode.

Nothing other than a longer timer!
You could easily just start the quadrant timer all over again if you wanted more brushing time and stop it when you've had enough.

OVERALL:
Both of these are great toothbrushes.
If you don't want the UV Cleaner/Charger combo get the R732 model and save about $20. But for ONLY $20 more,you get the Flexcare, which in essence gives you two chargers. . .the one that sits on the counter with the UV cleaner and the travel charger.

They both use the same brush head replacements.

I would have given this a 3 star due to the blatant marketing ploy of the product. But because it is the best toothbrush I've ever experienced, it gets bumped to a 4 star.
