Lob wedges and gap wedges?
I want to find a lob wedge that will be good around the green and bunkers especially. What kind of bounce do I need? What brands would you recommended for either gap or lob?
The important questions concerning what bounce you need are: what type of lie do you normally get...thin, tight, hard or plush, fluffy, soft? and what type sand do you see in the bunkers you play?
To complicate...what type of swing do you have? Upright or flat?
Best bet, check your local pro shop or driving range and demo wedges of varying bounces. Most places have used clubs you can try.
NO BODY can truly tell you what you need.
More bounce is needed for soft sands and fluffy lies; less bounce needed for tighter lies and packed sands.
Some players (and most pros) have several wedges to use depending on the conditions they will play. Good luck.
